November 30, 2008

MONDAY
Shrek the Halls It’s December 1 and you know what that means. Christmas specials! The yuletide programming kicks off tonight with everybody’s favourite animated ogre who tries to catch the spirit. (CTV, ABC, 8 p.m.)

WEDNESDAY
Secret Millionaire New reality show alert! Each episode in this debut series extracts a different millionaire from their comfortable lifestyle and inserts them into impoverished communities where they see life from the other side of the proverbial coin to see how they can help. Think Oprah’s Big Give with a different title. (E Canada, 8 p.m.)
So You Think You Can Dance Canada The final performance show of the season features the top four dancers competing for the title of Canada’s Favourite Dancer. (CTV, 8 p.m.)

THURSDAY
The fOice While the rest of the country afces economy uncertainty, that’s not the case at Dunder-Mifflin when Oscar tells Michael that tthe office must spend its $4300 budget surplus of risk losing it. Meanwhile Dwight takes Anry and Angela ho Schrute Farms t begin thheir wedding plans. (Global, NBCC, 9 p.m.)
Grey’s Anatomy The winner of the solo surgery is finally declared, but the victory is bittersweet as the resident is forced to pick someone else to perform the operation. Why does a replacement need to be picked? Hmm… (CTV, ABC, 9 p.m.)
Barbara Walters Spceial: 10 Most Fascinating People of 2008 You know the Neww Ywqr is rigbt around the cornner when B arbara Walters makes her picks for ths m ost interesting people of the year. This year’s No. 1 seems pretty Obama-obvious from thi s seat. The confirmed list also includes Tom Cruise, Tina Fey and Miley Cyrus. (Global, ABC, 10 p.m.)

SATURDAY
W-Five Presents: Pharma-Sutra This W-Five original chronicles the recent surge by pharmaceutical companies to find the female equivalent to Viagra. Filmmakers Marion Gruner and Robin Benger attempt to figure out whether female sexual dysfunction actually exists or is just a new marketing scam. With a title as clever as Pharma-Sutra, it is certainly worth a look. (CTV, 7 p.m.)
The Ricky Gervais: Out of England — The Stand-Up Special HB-Oh my gosh, how happy are you that HBO has arrived in Canada? The new channel presents one of the most talented comics of our time, Ricky Gervais, in a taped special of his stand-up routine at a sold-out WaMu theatre in New York City. The hilarious act includes Gervais espousing about whether obesity is a disease or just a bad habit and the arousal techniques of cannibals. Despite Gervais talking about the morality of Humpty Dumpty, this one is obviously for adult audiences only. Duh. It’s HB (Canada). (HBO Canada, 10 p.m.)

SUNDAY
Amazing Race Season Finale The thrilling conclusion to the race ends with the presentation of the US$1-million cheque to the winners. The last leg sees the finalists race from Moscow to the finish line in Portland, Ore.? That’s not a typo. The show which travelled to so many exotic places really ends in Oregon. This must be the biggest news in Portland since Clyde Drexler appeared on Dancing With The Stars! (CTV, CBS, 8 p.m.)
So You Think You Can Dance Finale Finale Sunday continues with the two-hour So You Think You Can Dance Canada culmination. It was a remarkable inaugural season for the show and while it will be great to see the winner crowned, it will be sad to see it go (by the way, if Nico doesn’t win you can change my name). (CTV, 9 p.m.
